Ceilings don't have to be, and probably shouldn't be, all flat, horizontal planes of white painted drywall. Changing the height and shape of a ceiling can add spaciousness, visual interest, and definition to a room. Soaring ceilings with interesting architectural detail allow a space to feel light and airy, making a room look and feel bigger than it physically is. It gives the opportunity to add character and a sense of grandeur to a home, not to mention providing a great backdrop for dramatic lighting.
Here are a few of our favorite rooms with vaulted ceilings.
